The Academy gets a makeover

parkinsons-academy-logo_R_350wYou might have noticed that the Parkinson’s Academy is sporting a new logo. This is an exciting time for the Academy as we begin to expand and undergo big changes, and so we thought a new logo was only fitting. Our new logo illustrates a neuron, but is also inspired by stepping stones to new knowledge and another thing delegates tell us is another major benefit of attending the Academy: making connections with colleagues. Not only does this vibrant new motif inject life into the Parkinson’s Academy, we are also delighted to announce the launch of three new academies: the MS Academy, the Dementia Academy and the Epilepsy Academy. The ‘Neurology Academy’ is now the umbrella company* for neurology education which ties together the Parkinson’s Academy and these newer disease specialism academies. The main aim of the Neurology Academy is to improve the lives of people affected by neurological conditions through education, networking and peer support. We hope to achieve this by ensuring that clinicians have access to high quality education and are supported to deliver improved services in their own health economy.Over the coming year we will be expanding into new disease areas and establishing a programme of activity that will support continued development of our alumni of neurologists, physicians and specialist nurses. The Dementia Academy will be launching its first MasterClass for primary care clinicians on March 2016 in Manchester, final details and the programme are currently in production. Do get in touch with us if you are interested in joining the Masterclass but please note that places are limited and will be on a first come first served basis. There is also the opportunity to support the MasterClass via partnership opportunities. The Multiple Sclerosis Academy is in the early planning stages for 2016, and the Epilepsy Academy will be coming soon too.Perhaps even more exciting is the launch of the International Neurology Academy, which will be launching in 2016. As part of this we are developing an online neurology training programme which delegates will undertake over a period of 12 to 18 months, completed by a one day MasterClass.International delegates are also very welcome to attend the UK courses. Previously we have had delegates from Canada, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand, as well as a mentor programme in Australia and New Zealand. The Academy goes from strength to strength, thank you for your support!
