Second Neuropharmacy MasterClass launches for 2020

The Neurology Academy are excited to launch the second of our Neuropharmacy MasterClasses for 2020.

The MasterClass, designed for specialist pharmacists who are already working in neurology, has been created in response to the growing role and remit of the neuropharmacist. The two module course is ideal for those who are already specialists and want to enhance their skills in specific neurological conditions.

The first module looks at multiple sclerosis (MS) and headache disorders, and delegates are provided with mentorship to complete a practical, inter-module project of their choice before returning for module two, covering Parkinson’s and epilepsy.

Our first series of the MasterClass ran this year and was met with enthusiasm and interest. The intermodule project award was won by Viv Horton, who implemented a follow-up system with primary care to improve the use of summary care records (SCRs) for those with multiple sclerosis (MS) being treated with alemtazumab. Her initiative improved local compliance from 31% to 91%. Her poster, and those of her fellow delegates, can be found online in our resources section on the MS Academy website.

Module one of the next Neuropharmacy MasterClass runs on 3rd-4th April next year, and has already proven popular, with 9 applications received within a few days of registration opening.
The faculty will select participants based partially on a first-come, first-served basis, whilst also taking applicants’ short personal statement into consideration. If you are interested in attending, get your application in as soon as possible, telling us why you want to attend and what you feel you will gain from the MasterClass as part of your statement.
