Dr Geeta Dorkhy
Dr Geeta graduated from SSR Medical College, Mauritius and subsequently completed a master's degree in public health at the University of Mauritius. In 2023 she was awarded a Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) by the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, India, affiliated with Open University of Mauritius.
Her keen interest in dementia and Alzheimer's disease is due to her voluntary participation in awareness campaigns, involving NGO's, international participation and research presentation. Dr Geeta believes that it is an honor to advance dementia research in Mauritian society. Her role as a medical doctor is to understand disease presentation, accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment. At the same time as contributing to research, development and training and engaging with dementia and Alzheimer's awareness and prevention strategies for a healthy Mauritius.
Dr Geeta is a research collaborator and co-investigator for Mo-FINGER, a two-year multidomain lifestyle intervention for cognitive improvement and prevention of dementia in at-risk individuals, in Mauritius. She believes that addressing public needs in brain health and influencing governmental policy is essential.
