Dr Julia Hannon
Dr Hannon is a Clinical Lead with over 13 years’ experience working across NHS and private mental health services. Alongside her therapeutic work, she oversees clinical care across a diverse range of services, with a strong focus on delivering evidence-based, effective and safe interventions.
A key area of Dr Hannon’s clinical practice is capacity assessment, particularly in the context of neuropsychological and cognitive presentations. She has extensive experience assessing individuals with suspected neurodegenerative conditions, and is passionate about supporting timely, accurate assessments that inform care planning while upholding individuals’ autonomy and best interests.
Her clinical experience spans the lifespan and includes work in outpatient, inpatient, and forensic settings. She currently works at The Edinburgh Practice with adults and older adults presenting with a wide range of psychological and cognitive difficulties and provides memory and neurodevelopmental assessment services. She is also actively involved in service development, training, and clinical supervision.
Dr Hannon’s therapeutic work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Therapy, and Compassion Focused Therapy, and is underpinned by a collaborative, compassionate therapeutic relationship.
