Prof Tim J. von Oertzen
Prof. Tim J. von Oertzen, MD, FRCP, IEMBA HSG, is a neurologist, healthcare executive, and academic leader with more than 25 years of clinical, scientific, and executive experience in European university hospitals. Since October 2023, he has served as Medical Director and CEO of the University Hospital Würzburg, Germany.
Prior to this role, he held senior leadership positions for over a decade at Kepler University Hospital in Linz, Austria, including Chairman of the Departments of Neurology and Deputy Medical Director of a newly established university medical center. His international experience includes serving as Consultant Neurologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at St. George’s University of London, where he founded and expanded a comprehensive epilepsy center.
His clinical and research focus is on epilepsy and stroke medicine, with particular expertise in advanced neuroimaging, AI-based seizure prediction, and patient-reported outcome measures. In parallel, he has a strong track record in change management, organizational transformation, digital health, and the strategic and financial governance of large academic healthcare institutions.
Tim J. von Oertzen is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London) and the European Academy of Neurology, holds an extraordinary Professor in Neurology, and is a graduate of the International Executive MBA program at the University of St. Gallen.
