Andrew Stephenson

Andrew Stephenson was born on the 23 March 1980 in Rakelane hospital North Shields Tyne & Wear. He lived in Tynemouth until he was 18 years old doing a NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration at the age of 16 then when he turned 18 joined the British Army doing training in Winchester and Catterick and then joined his battalion 2nd Battlion Light Infantry in 1999. Andrew has done tours of duty in Bosnia 1999-2000 and Kosovo 2001 and then began to get sick with weakness and fatigue and breathing issues. He was medically discharged with suspected asthma later found to to be Myasthenia Gravis

On June 28th 2002 while on sick leave Andrew had a serious RTA resulting in a broken femur and Ulna which then led to a fat embolism and heart embolism and needing defribulation and trachaeostomy which then led to diagnosis of Myasthenia.

Since diagnosis in 2002 Andrew has had 32 respiratory arrests resulting in ICU stays and requiring ventilation including a tracheostomy and had sepsis twice, aseptic meningitis due to IVIG 4x ive had onemounias and other serious infections and also has now got a anaphylaxis allegery to penicillin.

Andrew has tried and failed on 6 immunosuppressant medication (Azathioprine (allergic), methotrexate, mycophenolate 2x and both times ended up septic, leflunomide, rituximab, cyclosporine) he is on his 7th now efartigmod and has been the most stable he's been.
