Dr Raffaele Dubbioso

Associate professor of neurology
University Hospital of Naples

Dr Raffaele Dubbioso, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Neurology and Head of the ALS Unit at Federico II University Hospital of Naples. An expert in clinical neurophysiology, he specializes in non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), to investigate motor control and cortical excitability in ALS and other neurodegenerative diseases. His research focuses on identifying neurophysiological biomarkers of disease severity and progression to improve early diagnosis and personalize therapeutic interventions.

Dr Dubbioso has led and collaborated on several national and international projects, advancing the understanding of cortical dysfunction in neurodegeneration. He has received multiple prestigious awards, including young researcher honors from the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (SINC), the European Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (ECCN), and the European Academy of Neurology (EAN).

He serves as an editorial board member for BMC Neurology and Scientific Reports and has secured competitive research grants, including PRIN and PNRR funding from the Italian Ministry of University and Research , for biomarker discovery in ALS. As a member of the EAN panel on ALS and FTD, Dr Dubbioso actively contributes to international research collaborations, aiming to bridge neuroscience and clinical applications to enhance patient outcomes
