International Virtual MasterClass - the first of its kind!

17 Sep 2020

Our first ever International Virtual MasterClass ran last month over a period of two weeks, attended by 53 healthcare professionals from around the globe.

Co-created by Roche Egypt, the MasterClass was specifically focussed on multiple sclerosis (MS), and provided a virtual learning experience for delegates across 10 countries (table 1) where specialists in the condition are less common.

The MasterClass provided delegates with an opportunity to receive training and understanding via case study examples from experts across the UK MS Academy Faculty. Additional guest speakers Prof Magd Zakaria and Prof Maged Abdel Naseer, both specialists from Egypt, reviewed case studies for derisking disease-modifying therapies, and the evolution of MS practice in Egypt respectively.

'Great session with amazing insights into the newer MS therapies.'

Delegates rated both relevance and delivery of sessions an average of 4.6 out of 5, and praised not only the style and content of the sessions, but the enthusiasm and passion of the speakers presenting. Professor Nazeer received written praise regarding his 'energy and commitment to his patients', whilst a number of speakers were particularly noted for their ability to deliver complex subject matter with clarity and purpose.

'Excellent presentation. Really practical tips with management of the patient cases.'

Project Officer Arthi Rajkumar, who oversaw the MasterClass, said, 'We have had a fantastically diverse cohort join us for this very unique MS International Virtual MasterClass. Delegates were exposed to a robust range of MS topics by the leaders in their respective fields.

By being able to bring the expertise of our UK-based Faculty to healthcare professionals in different continents, we have been able to learn and connect in a way which has been absolutely invaluable.'

This meeting has been organised by MS Academy and is funded by Roche Egypt. Whilst Roche Egypt has selected key topics for discussion, content has been ultimately determined by MS Academy.
