Dr Temitope Farombi
Dr Temitope Farombi is a Consultant Neurologist, researcher, and global health scholar with expertise in neurodegenerative diseases, cognitive impairment, movement disorders, stroke recovery, and aging. Holding an MBBS, MSc in Clinical Neuroscience, Fellowship in Neurology, and a PhD in Global Health, her research focuses on improving functional outcomes and early detection of neurological conditions in underserved populations, particularly in Nigeria.
Currently serving at the Geriatric Center, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, she combines clinical practice with translational research and digital health innovation. Dr Temitope Farombi is also the founder of OHealth, a digital health platform that has facilitated over 35,000 specialist consultations across Nigeria.
Passionate about public engagement and brain health advocacy, Dr Temitope Farombi leads several awareness initiatives, including the annual “Dementia Not Witchcraft” campaign, aimed at reducing stigma and improving understanding of dementia within African communities. Through clinical care, research, and community outreach, she is committed to advancing equitable neurological care, dementia screening, and evidence-based brain health strategies across Africa.
She is the Principal Investigator for an ongoing NIH-funded project titled Plasma Biomarkers of Cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease and role of socio-determinants of health and lifestyle factors in Nigeria. She is also the Principal Investigator for a study funded by GBHI and Alzheimer’s association on Digital tools for Dementia detection and Referral pathways in Nigeria. She is also the Co-principal investigator for Brain Health Academy Africa.
