Helen Cole
Helen qualified as an Occupational Therapist in New Zealand in 1992. She worked for a short time in her native country before moving to the United Kingdom. She started to work in neurology in 1994, where she was involved in establishing a new outpatient multi-disciplinary service for people with neurological disorders; including patients with: Acquired Brain Injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons' Disease, and Motor Neurone Disease. Helen began working at Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in 1998 as a Senior I Occupational Therapist in Care of the Elderly within the rehabilitation team. She has worked extensively within stroke, and neurology moving to a Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist position in neurology in 2011.
Helen joined the MS Team in 2018 as a Specialist MS Occupational Therapist and has specialist skills in cognitive rehabilitation, upper limb rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation, and fatigue management. In December 2022 she was part of the MDT setting up the Acute MS Symptom clinic. She is passionate about occupational therapy within multiple sclerosis and empowering people with MS to be proactive in managing their symptoms.
