This Neuropharmacy MasterClass is designed for specialist pharmacists who are already working in neurology and want to enhance their skills in multiple sclerosis (MS), headache disorders, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy. Module 1 is looking at MS and headache disorders, whereas module 2 will cover Parkinson's and epilepsy.

Before returning for the second module, a service development / review audit should be undertaken back at your workplace, which will be presented back to the cohort via a webinar in June 2019 (times to be agreed with the group). Learners will also receive mentorship while completing the inter-module project of their choice.

Draft programme

(Version 03/12/18)

This MasterClass programme has been carefully developed by Joela Mathews and Rachel Dorsey-Campbell, both neurology pharmacists, to equip pharmacists with specialist skills in managing the different aspects of patients with neurology conditions. The course is ideally for pharmacists who are band 7 or above, and assumes a level of knowledge about the pathology of the conditions and their treatment options.

What will it cost?

The course is fully funded which includes all meeting materials, meals, a travel allowance and one night of accommodation at the meeting venue on the night during module 1 and module 2. Your travel grant will be discussed once your application has been approved and is for UK delegates only.

Your fully funded fee covers the costs of the MasterClass and the whole course must be attended in full. A cancellation charge applies, as per Terms and Conditions.

Module 2: 13 & 14 September 2019, Sheffield

To complete the course delegates must return for module 2, which will cover Parkinson's and epilepsy. → Click here for module 2

Developing neuropharmacists, supporting collaborative care

Knowledgeable pharmacists can initiate or support new treatment pathways, play an important role in patient education, medicine adherence, efficacy and safety, and provide advice to other healthcare professionals involved in the person's care. This Academy recognises the value of this essential role, and seeks to enhance pharmacist's clinical skills and build their confidence in managing a range of neurological conditions.
