Dr Rachel Thomasson

Dr Rachel Thomasson is a consultant Neuropsychiatrist based at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences, one of the largest tertiary neurosciences centres in the UK.

Rachel graduated from UCL’s MB-PhD programme in 2007. Her PhD research was focused on visual cognitive function after epilepsy surgery. After completing core psychiatry training at the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospitals, she undertook higher training in Manchester, with specialist posts in liaison psychiatry and neuropsychiatry. She was appointed as a consultant in 2017. She has a broad based practice with collaborative links across neurology, neurorehabilitation, neurosurgery, neurometabolic medicine, genomic medicine and neuro-oncology. Her specialist interests are centred on neurocognitive disorders.

She is actively involved with the Royal College of Psychiatrists faculty of neuropsychiatry and current initiatives centre on improving exposure to neuropsychiatry in psychiatry training programmes, drafting a national training curriculum and dovetailing access to neuropsychiatry into NHS national service specifications.
