Dr Georgina Burke is a consultant neurologist with neuromuscular expertise and leads the Wessex neuromuscular team at Southampton University NHS Foundation Trust, which is an MDUK centre of neuromuscular excellence. She also provides neuromuscular expertise for patients living in the Portsmouth area.

After achieving a D.Phil in congenital myasthenia research from the University of Oxford, she moved back to Southampton to develop a regional myasthenia service. Southampton is now one of the few UK centres designated to provide specialist myasthenia treatments. She also provides transition care for neuromuscular patients and is part of the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy MDT, contributing to the Northstar steering committee.

She has a life-long interest in education and spent her gap year before university teaching science and mathematics in a rural school in Zimbabwe. She teaches on the medical student neurology program and developed videos demonstrating neurological examination during the COVID lockdown.
