Request for interest in developing an educational training programme for SMA
We are seeking nominations to assist us in the design and development of a MasterClass programme to meet the education and service development needs of clinicians (Doctors, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists and Nurse Specialists) working with Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) patients. This is as a result of multiple requests from our neurologist alumni who have attended current MasterClass programmes.
We are hoping to establish an advisory board with clinicians who are specialists or aspiring to become specialists in this area, to hold a series of workshops to facilitate regional networking in SMA.
Could this be you?
In essence the Neurology Academy has a 17 year history of training neurologists, nurses and AHPs to bring together clinical networks not only for clinical training, but with the objective of stimulating service improvement / better commissioning of services, you can see on our website some of the work that’s been done, which we hope can be replicated for other conditions.
At the initial advisory board (due to take place on 9 January 2020 in Sheffield) we would like to ask representatives from the SMA REACH network about their views on education needs in paediatric SMA patients, and if services are currently meeting patient need. We would like to recruit 6 clinicians/Nurse specialists/AHP's initially to discuss this and potentially follow up with a questionnaire to gain interest in the areas suggested and further input.
Date for the initial advisory board is on 9 January 2020 at Halifax Hall, Sheffield Sheffield University Campus.
Clinicians can self nominate or nominate a colleague.
Email your interest and details below. An honorarium and travel expenses can be paid to clinicians who participate in the advisory board.
