Alison Leake
Alison has worked as a Specialist Nurse in the field of Parkinson’s at St Georges University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2004, having qualified as a Nurse in 1990. Since 2004 the Tertiary Movement Disorders Service has expanded, now offering all non-oral therapies with Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) commencing in the Trust in 2016. Alison leads the nursing service and is integral within the management team to continue developing services to an exceptional standard for those with Parkinson’s from diagnosis and beyond. St Georges is now a leading research centre within the movement disorder field and development in this area is ongoing.Alison became a member of the Excellence Network at its infancy having previously been on the committee for the PDNSA.
Since 2018 Alison has been part of the clinical leadership team for the Excellence Network sharing the goals of speeding up research, securing high standards of care whilst raising the voice of those living with Parkinson’s. At the same time Alison is a member of the Nurse Association for DBS (DBSNA) which supports the belief of joint working across different treatment areas to develop knowledge, skills and services to benefit all those living with Parkinson’s.
