Dr Hassan-Smith is a consultant neurologist working at University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB). She trained in London and Birmingham where she also completed her PhD, titled ‘Classical and novel markers in the pathogenesis of Multiple Sclerosis’ at the University of Birmingham (UoB). She gained CCT in 2017 and took on a Neurology Consultant post with specialist interest in MS at UHB. She also ran the Clinical Neurology course for UoB students and has taken on a role leading strategic development of Medical Simulation at Aston Medical School in Birmingham. She has also recently been appointed Chair of the West Midlands Simulation Network (WMSN), reporting on and developing Simulation-based Education activities for both undergraduate and postgraduate training programmes in both NHS Trusts and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across the region.
