Dr Seán O’Dowd

Dr. Seán O’Dowd is a consultant neurologist and co-director of the Institute of Memory and Cognition at Tallaght University Hospital (TUH), and clinical senior lecturer at Trinity College Dublin.

He completed specialist training in Neurology in Dublin, including a research fellowship and MD in CSF biomarkers of the tauopathies at UCD. He was subsequently awarded the HSE Dr Richard Steevens’ Scholarship to gain further subspecialty experience in neurodegenerative disorders in Newcastle upon Tyne, where he was involved in clinical, research and clinical trial work in the Movement Disorders Research Unit and the Lewy Body Dementia Clinic. In 2016, he was appointed as a consultant neurologist at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, with an honorary commitment at the Cambridge Memory Clinic at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, before returning to Dublin to take up his current post at TUH.
