Dr Sharmilee Gnanapavan
Dr S Gnanapavan qualified from St Bartholomews and The Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry. She specialised in neurology and academically in neuroscience with a PhD from the Institute of Neurology (UCL) entitled “Putative biomarkers of Neuro-restoration”. She is currently a consultant neurologist at Barts Health and Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust and honorary senior clinical lecturer in the Department of Neuroscience & Trauma, Queen Mary University of London. She recently set up the consortium with her Co-chair Dr Mark Freedman to formulate guidelines in the use of neurofilaments in MS and is in charge of the CSF neurofilament service at the Blizard Insitute in QMUL. She is also on the advisory board for the UK Brain Bank and the UK MS Society expert on progressive MS trials. Her research focus is body fluid biomarkers, ranging from basic science through to translation work in clinical practice, including clinical trials.
