Jenny Wright

Parkinson’s Disease Nurse Specialist
Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust

Jenny undertook training as a registered general nurse at Kings College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1988. Post qualifying worked on an oncology and haematology ward prior to moving to Nottingham in 1989 to take up a position on the neurology/neurosurgical wards. Career development led to a deputy sister role on the unit followed by a practice development role. Further career progression led to specialist’s roles initially in neuro-oncology and since 2007 in Parkinson’s disease. My studies in Parkinson’s disease have enabled me to complete a degree in combined health studies, publish several articles & complete a Masters module in Parkinson’s disease at Swansea University.

The Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist role at NUH has developed with increasing nurse led clinics; including a newly diagnosed nurse/therapy led clinics & complex clinics. As a team we offer all complex/advanced therapies of Apomorphine, DBS & Duodopa and we assist in running the East Midlands PDNS Network Meetings and participate in East Midlands PEN meetings.
