Prof Peter Passmore
Professor Passmore trained in Belfast and has a longstanding interest in Cognitive decline and dementia. He trained in memory in University of Sydney and set up the Belfast Memory Clinic. Over the past 30 years he has been clinical lead for that clinic. He has led the research efforts in dementia at Queens University. The research portfolio has been wide ranging and has involved mostly translational science. This has formed the basis for studies into risk factors, with a focus on genetic and cardiovascular risks, allied to studies in mild cognitive impairment and neuropsychiatric symptoms in dementia. Recent focus has been on risk factors for delirium. The group has maintained a clinical trial programme. Professor Passmore has over 260 peer reviewed publications and has spoken at a number of national and international meetings. Professor Passmore is an Alzheimer’s Society Ambassador.
