Sian Ball
Sian is an integral member in the Neuromuscular team at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (SC NHS FT).
She is a qualified occupational therapist, having worked in adult and paediatric health care, voluntary organisations, and social care. Sian began her health career at Manchester Royal Infirmary, moving to London and working for a national charity the Disabled Living Foundation. She then returned to the north, helping to establish the newly formed community occupational therapy service for Gateshead social services, before moving to Sheffield. Sian joined Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust in 1991 and worked in the Neurodisability early years therapy team, joining the Neuromuscular Service as their paediatric Neuromuscular Care Advisor in 2018.
Her remit incudes patient advocacy, teaching to health and educational colleagues across the region and at national conference; in addition to supporting families at diagnosis and whilst they remain under the care of the Neuromuscular Service at SC NHS FT
She has authored and published service evaluation projects, professional articles of interest and information resources. She has participated on national committees representing paediatric occupational therapists and she is currently a member of the MD UK Neuromuscular Centres of Excellence 2023 sub committee.
