MND Awareness Day 2025: advancing care, empowering professionals
NewsMND Awareness Day was on 21st June, it is an important time to reflect on the strides made in care and education for people living with motor neurone disease (MND) across the UK over the past year.
In the face of a rapidly progressive condition, early access to multidisciplinary care remains critical. This year, the UK has seen positive momentum: increased recognition of the importance of palliative care from diagnosis, continued development of voice banking and communication support services, and growing advocacy around timely access to respiratory care and symptom management.
Yet, challenges remain, including navigating conversations around advance care planning and assisted dying, areas where healthcare professionals often feel under-supported.
At Neurology Academy, we are committed to equipping clinicians with the skills and knowledge needed to provide high-quality, person-centred care. Through both our MND Academy and Palliative Care Academy, we offer a range of accessible educational resources for all healthcare professionals involved in the care of people with MND:
- 4 on-demand webinars, most recent one is available here: Speech and communication difficulties in motor neurone disease (MND) – a multidisciplinary approach
- Online courses, including specialist sessions on communication, nutrition and respiratory care
- Assisted dying: supporting clinicians through complex conversations – a newly launched on-demand programme, designed to help navigate this complex and evolving topic.
We invite all professionals working with people affected by MND to explore these free resources and join us in building a more informed, compassionate, and collaborative approach to MND care.
