She has a particular clinical interest in muscle diseases and myasthenia gravis. Covering south London and the south-east of England she has been in her current post since 2005 and now leads these two specialist services for the region. She has a laboratory research background in the molecular genetics and protein biochemistry of part of the dystrophin protein, working at Guy’s Hospital and then the Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge. She now has a clinical interest in the management of muscle diseases and myasthenia in pregnancy. Her focus in recent years is on improving the clinical service provision for those affected by muscle diseases and she works closely with specialist colleagues from all disciplines to try to achieve that.
