Prof Guido Rubboli

Guido Rubboli graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Bologna in Italy and the specialisation in neurology at the same university. He was appointed Research Fellow (1989-1991) at the Department of Neurology at Loyola University in Chicago (USA) where he was trained in clinical and experimental neurophysiology. From 1991 to 2011, he worked at the Neurology Unit at Bellaria Hospital in Bologna; his main clinical and research interests were on clinical epileptology and neurophysiology of epilepsy, in collaboration with Prof.C.A.Tassinari. He was trained in presurgical evaluation of drug-resistant epilepsies in Grenoble and Milan, and contributed to the start of the epilepsy surgery program in Milan. In 2012 he was appointed Director of the Adult Department at the Danish Epilepsy Center in Dianalund (Denmark) and in 2014 he was appointed Clinical Professor of Clinical Epileptology at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. Currently, his main fields of research are clinical management and clinical neurophysiology, including presurgical evaluation, of difficult-to-treat epilepsies, genetics of rare and complex epilepsies, targeted treatments in genetic epilepsies and developmental epileptic encephalopathies.

He is Fellow of the European Academy of Neurology, where he has served as Chair of the Epilepsy Scientifc Panel (2017-2021), and member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society and the Danish and Italian Leagues Against Epilepsy.

He has published more than 240 papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored more than 50 chapters in international books
