Joe Wicks makes mainstream Parkinson's workout
NewsThe evidence around physical activity and Parkinson's is clear, and we've produced a fair amount of education to support you, as healthcare professionals, with the knowledge you need on the evidence-base.
However, encouraging people with Parkinson's to get more physical activity, or to engage in exercise, can be challenging. What about signposting them to your friendly neighbourhood fitness guru, though?!
Joe Wicks, well known for encouraging exercise in the non-exercise-minded, posted a 20-minute, Parkinson's-specific fitness routine on his channel the Body Coach TV just 2 days ago, and it has already had 17,000 views.
The routine is shown by both himself and a person living with Parkinson's, and has received some positive responses online so far from people affected by Parkinson's.
Some comments acknowledge that this level of fitness would not be accessible to their loved one with Parkinson's who have fatigue or difficulties with mobility, but it could be a great place to signpost to those patients who are reasonably active and know that exercise can help them with their Parkinson's, but need an accessible starting point.
