Fireside chats
This on demand course is designed with physicians in mind but suitable for nurses, therapists and allied healthcare professionals.
Welcome to the Parkinson’s Academy Fireside chats series. While you may have to picture the fireside setting yourself, the goal of this series is to introduce a fresh, conversational approach to neurological teaching – and learning.
Drawing on the experience of three clinicians with a wealth of practical knowledge in the field – Drs Ed Richfield, Richard Genever and Neil Archibald – we explore topics such as delirium, confusion and encephalitis, before rounding off with practical tips for managing acute neurology. Our conversations include questions suggested by trainees and challenging clinical cases we’ve encountered in practice.
What will the course involve?
This short, virtual course consists of four engaging video sessions, each lasting between 25 and 35 minutes:
- Tremor on the take
- Who to take on the take
- Confusion – how to avoid it affecting you too
- Acute neurology – things we’ve learned the hard way, so you don’t have to
The first two sessions are available now, and a new session will be released each Wednesday.
There are no traditional lectures or slides – just lively, informal conversations designed to make complex neurological topics more accessible. Get a feel for the style and format by watching a short sneak peek from the first session: What is Bradykinesia?
Who is this course for?
The sessions are aimed at any physician on the acute take whether you are just starting out, approaching postgraduate exams or expected to already have all the answers! Irrespective, we hope you will learn something that will come in handy for your next ward rounds.
