We're delighted to congratulate Parkinson's specialist nurse Nick Bryden and colleagues for their place as a shortlisted finalist in the Nursing Times awards this year!

Nick and his colleagues Richard Cottrell, principal pharmacist for digital health & eprescribing, and Michelle McLuckie, head of systems, development and implementation at digital services have been successfully shortlisted in the category for technology and data in nursing.

They have initiated a system which has improved timely access to Parkinson's medication across NHS Arran and Ayrshire hospitals through innovative use of existing systems. Combining existing e-prescribing with the wards' digital whiteboard technology has led to a system allowing for Parkinson's patients to be managed, monitored and audited regarding their medication across different departments. A second phase tying dynamic visual prompts with an existing whiteboard system further improved outcomes.

The project, which won the Parkinson's MasterClass intermodule project award, has been acknowledged in Scottish parliament.

Our sincere congratulations go to the many other healthcare professionals who have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards, particularly the twice-award-winning Sheffield MS and pregnancy service, which is shortlisted for the HRH The Prince of Wales Award for Integrated Approaches to Care.

The best of luck to you all!
