Multiple sclerosis for the general neurologist
The UK's neurology workforce has one of the largest proportionate caseloads in Europe - and access to a specialist in specific complex neurological conditions, like multiple sclerosis (MS) is often difficult to ensure.
General neurologists are essential in detection and diagnosis of MS, as well as in ensuring optimal treatment and management in areas where specialists are unavailable or services are under strain.
However, it is challenging to feel confident in making an accurate diagnosis, know how to implement the latest guidance, or be up-to-date on the growing range of disease-modifying therapies. This is why our MS for General Neurologists course is so essential.
What the course provides
This MasterClass will upskill General Neurologists with the state of the art in MS diagnosis and treatment, to improve outcomes for people with MS.
You will learn:
how to understand and implement the revised McDonald criteria to streamline MS diagnosis
- how to use the NHS England disease-modifying treatment algorithm to optimise support to all patients, including
those with a single clinical attack in the previous 12 months
those with primary or secondary progressive MS
effective acute management of relapse or infection
when MS is not MS - the spectrum of NMOSD and MOGAD
to tailor management across a person with MS's journey, from symptom management to palliative care
Who is the course for?
This course is designed specifically for general neurologists, and is appropriate for recently trained neurologists, as well as those who have been established as general neurologists for some time.
