Who is this course for?
This is the ideal course for those who have a solid grounding in neurology or other related specialisms and want to develop a special interest in MS. Course attendees might include senior nurses, clinical nurse specialists (CNSs), allied health professionals (AHPs) working in health or social care, specialist registrars (SpRs), general practitioners, psychologists, pharmacy technicians, physicians associate or associated specialists.
What will the course include?
Our in-depth and practically-applicable learning tackles specific issues around the management of MS throughout a person’s journey with the disease. This education is case-based, practical and interactive. Our speaker faculty is multi-disciplinary across healthcare and research which allows deeper practical and interactive conversations around the case studies discussed.
This course aims to provide an introduction and broad overview of the modern management of MS including:
- Diagnosis, differential diagnosis, epidemiological consideration
- Pathophysiology around progressive MS
- Symptom management
- Relapse management and current treatment options
- Advanced MS
Ultimately promoting holistic management of MS, the course will provide practical learning and inspiring service models that are cemented through the inter-module project, an essential part of the overall course.
Intermodule project
This MasterClass includes an intermodule project as a mandatory part of the course, which takes the practical education to a fundamental level. It’s an opportunity to test new knowledge and skills, while improving local services. Delegates are offered mentorship and encouraged to support their peers as they continue to develop their specialism in a way that directly impacts patients’ outcomes.
Attendees have free reign over their project, and it’s the perfect opportunity for delegates to develop or investigate an area of interest in their service. This may be a new service delivery, mapping a care pathway, an innovative new way of working, streamlining services, specifics around patient management or a more detailed look at drug treatments. It could take the form of an audit, patient feasibility study, retrospective review or another form of research. It should meet a local need to develop a new or existing service and will contribute towards the delegate's personal development. → View previous projects here.
Costs & accommodation
The course is fully funded, subject to funding from our sponsors. This includes a travel allowance of £150 (standard class) for clinicians practising in the UK for both modules, and accommodation for the night prior and the night of the MasterClass.
